Beginner's Guide: Disney's Beach Club Resort

Disney's Beach Club Resort is a New England-style resort that has a laid back feel that many Disney guests enjoy. It is a short walk from Epcot and a Friendship boat ride away from Disney's Hollywood Studios. The resort is also home to villas that are a part of the Disney Vacation Club.

Disney's Beach Club Resort has rooms with either a standard, lagoon or pool, or garden view. Rooms can have either 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair and 1 Day Bed or 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed depending on location and view. Most rooms will sleep up to five guests. There are also Club Level rooms and one and two bedroom suites. The Beach Club is also a Disney Vacation Club Resort with studios and one and two bedroom villas. You can check out a review of a wheelchair accessible one bedroom villa at Rolling with the Magic.

Recreation

One of the most unique features of Disney's Beach Club Resort is Stormalong Bay, the 3 acre pool area that is for the exclusive use of guests staying at the Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, or Yacht Club. Stormalong Bay features a lazy river, beach area, pool with sand on the bottom, a water slide that resembles a ship wreck, and sun deck. There is also a kiddie pool with a miniature water slide.

There are also two quiet pools, one located in the garden area at the Beach Club and the Dunes Cove Pool at the Beach Club Villas.

The resort also features many other recreational activities. Lafferty Place Arcade, a playground, a campfire at the beach in the evenings and movies under the stars, you can rent a boat to explore Crescent Lake or fish, book a Pirate Adventure cruise, or rent a bike and explore the resort. There are tennis and volleyball courts as well as a jogging trail. Fantasia Gardens and Fairway Miniature Golf is close by and if you would like to plan a date night with your spouse you can leave the kids in good hands at the Sandcastle Club.
Dining

For a quick bite you can visit the Beach Club Marketplace. It has several to go items and groceries for those guests staying in the Villas. It opens at 7:00 am for breakfast and serves dinner until 11:00 pm if you need a snack after visiting the parks.

Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar & Grill is located next to Stormalong Bay. It's a great option if you are spending a day at the pool. It is open from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. Kids meals are served in a sand pail that can then be used for some extra fun at the pool.

Cape May Cafe features a character buffet for breakfast where you can meet Goofy, Donald, and Minnie. For dinner the buffet offers a seafood and more with clams, mussels, crab legs, shrimp, and chicken among other options.

"We’ve enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the Cape May Café. I’d recommend both experiences at least once. The food is very varied and delicious and the character interaction at breakfast time is great." - Heidi from Heidi's Head
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is a favorite of many Disney guests and is a must do even if you aren't staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Beth from A Disney Mom's Thoughts recommends getting some friends together to tackle the famous Kitchen Sink!

You can also visit Martha's Vineyard for appetizers and drinks during your stay.
What Our Pilots Say

“We’ve never had opportunity to stay at the Beach Club, but it’s on my Disney Bucket List. Of the moderate resorts, I definitely consider it among my favorites, simply due to its close proximity to Epcot. I think it would be so awesome to be able to walk out the door of your resort and WALK to Epcot!

Even if you don’t stay at the Beach Club, I’d highly recommend visiting. The outdoor grounds around the resort are absolutely beautiful and make for some excellent photo opportunities. The lobby is worth a visit as well. My kids always enjoy sitting in the big chairs and I love taking in all the details.” - Heidi from Heidi's Head

"If you are traveling to Walt Disney World during Christmas, make sure you check out the Beach Club's decorations. They have a Gingerbread Carousel in the lobby that smells as good as it looks! There are lots of Hidden Mickey's to find as well. You can also pick up gingerbread to eat and grab a copy of the recipe!" - Beth from A Disney Mom's Thoughts

We should also mention that Disney's Yacht Club Resort shares many of the Beach Club's recreation options and amenities. But since it is a separate resort we will cover it in detail in another guide.

Have you stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort or is it still on your Disney Bucket List?
