“From the very beginning, my relationship with Greg was ‘unique’. We went on our first date the very same day that I accepted a job in Switzerland, and we both knew we would one day get married after that first date, and then we dated transcontinentally for over a year. When I was in Switzerland working as an au pair, some friends and I planned a trip to France to see the Christmas Markets. I was excited—I had never been to France before and was really looking forward to the trip. When I went to go meet my friends at the train station to leave, Greg, who was supposed to be in New Mexico, showed up instead. I was so shocked by his sudden arrival in Switzerland that I don’t even remember him getting down on one knee and asking me to be his wife, but I do know that it happened under the Swarovski Christmas Tree in Zurich Main Train Station. I’m assuming I said yes, since we’re now married.“
