Paris Fall 2016 Windows

Paris Windows

The mood in Paris this fall is somber. The French economy continues to suffer, and everywhere we went, they asked about our election. I'm told the French people are not buying much, and that the Paris shops rely on American customers. Yes, they are happy to see us, and no, they don't mind anymore if we take photos inside the shops. There are fewer things in the stores. The window displays are less extravagant, more pared down, more subdued. Cafes and restaurants remain lively and crowded. There are long lines at museums. We soaked it all in with our magnificent troop of 13 women, and look forward to returning next year. Katherine and I would love to have you join us in 2017!

The photos shown here were all taken on the fly, darting down the street, often in the midst of a conversation, or searching for a shop, a cup of coffee, or trying to find a bathroom. Sometimes the light is all wrong, or it is raining, or I have the wrong lens in the camera (I am a purist...no phone photos here). In some cases I had beautiful Franglais conversations with the shop sales staff.

No commentary, no designer names, just photos for you to see, to draw your own conclusions from, and perhaps, to go back to your studio with a glimmer of inspiration. Included are shots from Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Olympia Le Tan, Karl Lagerfeld and his famous cat Chouette as well as lesser known designers.

Enjoy! ...and I love to hear your comments.
