spring cleaning

Spring is like a new beginning – and with new beginnings you start fresh.
So.. now is a perfect time for some spring cleaning!☺

The weather temperature is changing and we have warm sunny days ahead of us. You might feel the urge to upgrade your wardrobe or add some lighter, more summer-y items to your closet. If you are it’ll be easier for you to find out what to purchase after a closet cleanse, and if you aren’t; it’s time for all of us to pack away our winter wools and coats anyway!

First step, take your time to clean out your closet. Second step, write a shopping list of what you need. Third step… go out and enjoy the sun ♥

I. CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
Sort everything in piles
- Keep: Things you love and wear daily. They are probably comfortable, practical and versatile – or they simply make you feel amazing.
- Donate/Sell: Don’t throw your clothes, it’s not good for our environment ☺ Donate to the salvation army, sell things through consignment shops or sell it yourself on ebay/etsy.. Or maybe you have friends or family you can hand your unused clothes to?
- Storage: Put things away to clear out space (and mind); place your fall and winter items into storage.

While going through your clothes, try on everything that you’re unsure of and ask yourself if you feel good in it? does it suit you?
If you haven’t worn that item for a year it’s probably a no.

You can also go by this: Every single item in your closet should make you feel good.

II. ORGANIZE YOUR NEW CLOSET
I prefer to hang things on a rack so the clothes don’t get wrinkled. If space is limited, fold your jeans, t-shirts and sweaters. Hang your shirts, dresses, nice pants and coats. Find a way to organize your things by colour, category and/or use.

III. MAKE A SHOPPING LIST
Now that you’ve cleaned out your closet it’ll be easier for you to figure out what you need.
Here is a wardrobe checklist that I made a year ago for reference.

happy spring ♥
