Back to the Basics – Everlane

I occupy myself on my lunch breaks by reading minimal wardrobe blogs to be inspired and also out of sheer curiosity (how does one make a 33 item wardrobe work in real life?). One name popped up again and again, Everlane.

Everlane’s fabric colors are gorgeous and elegantly draped. The humble T is one of the workhorses of the modern wardrobe. It can be worn with anything from cutoffs to a tailored suit to a ball skirt. I prefer mine slouchy, lightweight and in neutral colors. Everlane fits the bill.

The price of Everlane’s offerings are maintained by only selling online and avoiding distribution and retail mark-ups. While they do manufacture in China as well as in the US, Spain, Italy and Scotland, they provide an extensive amount of information on the factories that produce their designs. The site also discloses their manufacturing monitoring practices. If you prefer products made in the US, the above Ryan T is made in California from the fabric to the sewing and finishing. It’s slouchy with an asymmetrical hem and made in the USA, what more could I ask for? On Everlane’s site, you can read more about the factories that source their designs as well as info on each style and the fabric it’s made of. I wish every brand was as transparent and forthcoming.

I haven’t tried Everlane yet but I’m keeping them bookmarked so I’m ready when the time comes to replace my current pieces. I wear Ts daily, everywhere and for every occasion. I’m tempted to buy one now (OH SO TEMPTED) but as I’m on a shopping fast, it can wait.
