Scrapping sweet memories~

Hi Roadies, it's me, Jody and I've got a 'sweet' layout to share with you today. It's no secret that I love cupcakes and I love to scrap, so when I combine those two loves it's one of my simple pleasures in life! My son just had his 16th birthday and his day included some local gourmet cupcakes which we all helped him enjoy in our home. There are 8 of us to split the calories and goodness up, so I played to some of those details as I scrapped this page.

One of my favorite tricks to scrapping a simple and coherent page when you use as many embellishments as I do is to stick to a simple color scheme. You can see that the main colors on this layout are: white, black, pink, mint and kraft/woodgrain. It is fun to pull out so many pieces that mix and match when you choose a color combo and it helps the page come together easily!

I played off of the colors of the cupcakes without even realizing it! They were all delicious, in case you were wondering. From turtle to s'mores to coconut with raspberry filling these cupcakes were the life of the party! =)

These soft, velvety pleats remind me of the top of a cupcake and they add a fun texture to a project.

For a fun page element I machine-stitched a row of the kraft people to the page- which are sold as pins, but they worked so cute as icons for each member of my family. The clear "LIKE" photo frame is a subtle detail, but it adds another fun touch and I like the added texture of it too. At the top of the page I created a pink banner by unrolling some paper cording and then I trimmed the ends and folded it to look like a banner. I layered a couple of tickets and a chipboard sticker over it and it sort of looks like a party decoration on the top of the layout. The airplane and banner clips are great for filling in spots and I like the tiny hearts on them too. It adds to the love theme on this and the airplane signifies that sometimes the good stuff in life flies by too fast...like yummy cupcakes and how quickly kids grow up! A few other Maya Road products you will find on this layout are: 'xo' chipboard alphas, lace fabric tape, wooden heart button and an acrylic house!

I hope you've enjoyed this peek at a layout that is a very real snapshot of my life right now. We have a couple more birthdays coming up and already I am looking forward to whatever delicious treat accompanies the festivities, and I am excited to scrap some more sweet memories that we can savor for a long, long time! Making memories and scrapping them can be twice the fun! Enjoy yours!
