Using ghd Bird of Paradise Styler for Everyday Loose Waves Tutorial

Hi lovely readers! Today I'm showing an exciting new collab I have with ghd, who have recently released a limited edition Bird of Paradise collection! This one I've got is the 'Lagoon' styler, and as you can see it features a beautiful rich turquoise and shimmering green gradient, which was actually inspired by all the tropical trends on the runway. Also in their Bird of Paradise collection is their 'Sunset' styler, which is equally as stunning with vibrant purple and fuchsia tones! (Both are currently sold out on ghd website but you can find the Lagoon on RY here)

I thought I would also show a tutorial on how I get my everyday waves with the styler as well. I personally have been using the original ghd styler (IV styler here) since I saved up for it as a poor high school student in 2007 lol, and to this date I still think it was a great investment! For a hair styler I use almost every day for seven years, it was worth it, no? :)

The great thing about the ghd styler is that you can use it to both straighten and create waves, of which I'll be doing a tutorial for.
'Lagoon' styler: c/o ghd Tropical bikini: c/o Jets Swimwear
The 'Lagoon' styler comes in a beautiful turquoise and green box with a tropical print that reminds me of a deep sea holiday...this funky tropical printed bikini by Jets that I wore last summer definitely seemed to complement it!
The box contains the ghd hair styler as well as a heat resistant mat, for you to leave your styler on after use. It has a handy ribbon around it which is useful for traveling!

Such a pretty little thing!

L to R: KMS Hot flex spray, KMS Anti-humidity seal, Redken All Soft Argan-6 oil
Before getting on to the tutorial, there are also a few hair products I use in conjunction with the styler. I use the KMS Hot flex spray to spritz on my hair before using the ghd, to protect my hair from the heat of the styler. Then after styling I use the anti-humidity seal, to mimimise frizz when I go outside. And the product on the right is the Redken Argan-6 oil from their All-Soft range, which is a beautiful oil that makes your hair soft and shiny. I use this as a finishing product.
Moving on to the tutorial! Everyday Soft Waves with the ghd Styler

1. After applying a heat protectant spray (like my pink KMS one above), take a section of your and clamp the ghd on it. (You can separate your hair into sections with bobby pins or clips before hand to make it easier and not curl over the same areas.)
2. Then flip the styler about 180 degrees, with your hair wrapped around it. Which angle do you flip the styler around? Usually you flip it away from your face, ie. towards the back of your head rather than towards the front.
I hold it for around 2 seconds in that position. You can hold it for a second longer if you want tighter curls, but I like a loose wavy kind of style for my everyday look.
3. Then glide down with the styler, having it still clamped on your hair.
4. Then repeat the process again. Flip the styler about 180 degrees with the hair wrapped around the styler.
5. Glide down.
6. Flip the styler around 180 degrees again...and continue this process until you reach the end of your hair.
When you release the clamp, this section of your hair should have cascading curls.
Missed it? Here's a close-up of the process:

Keep doing it to all the sections of your hair (remember that you are always twisting the styler away from your head, so the curls on your left side are the opposite direction to the curls on your right).
Spritz with anti-humidity seal like my blue KMS one above, for hold and prevention of frizz and flyaways. Then top off with some Argan oil like my gold Redken one for extra shine and smoothness.
And end result!

What's really great about the ghd styler is that the advanced ceramic heat technology enhances shine, so it helps create hair that looks healthy and smooth.
The smooth contoured plates also help your hair glide through with ease, reducing the chance of snags. There's also an automatic sleep mode so that after 30 minute of non-use it will actually turn itself off! How handy is that, especially if you're like me and always in a rush in the morning and forget little things like turning your hair styler off.
Do you guys ever use your ghd for loose wavy curls like me? Let me know in the comments below! :)
