On request, here is William Steinberg's first assignment at the Metropolitan opera, the 1965 Aida with Birgit Nilsson and Richard Tucker. Steinberg made his actual debut with the company on 02 January 1965 and conducted the opera through April but did not take it on tour. Kurt Adler conducted the tour performances and Zubin Mehta took over the conducting duties, making his debut with the company in December, 1965.
