Your Festival Survival Guide

Springtime is festival time, which means if you’re on the West Coast you and everyone you know is buzzing about Coachella. Festival season is the time to see your favorite bands and discover new music. It’s also the time to survive 2-3 days of memory-making mayhem that will live on with your besties for years. Ninety percent of the stories you’ll create will involve mindblowing sets and undeniably stellar fashion. But some tales can turn south if the proper preparation doesn’t take place. That’s a bummer for all involved, so it’s important to cover your bases. Here’s my festival survival guide to make sure it’s nothing but positive vibes the entire time–no terrible sunburns or fainting in sight!.

Hydrate - Just like anything in our lives, hydration is key. Long days in the sun and the possible alcohol indulgence means that it’s more important than ever to drink lots of water. If you’re able to bring your own bottles in, then absolutely do. If not, plan to spend a decent amount on the beverage. Staying hydrated will keep you going long into the night. So you’ll be energized from Kaskade to Drake and beyond!

Block the Sun - All day festivals can be tricky. It’s super hot and dry during the day, and unpredictably cold in the evening. That means you need to plan your outfit and protection accordingly. Bring a hat and sunglasses and make sure to carry sunscreen with you. Coola Mineral Face Sunscreen is a lightly whipped tinted sunscreen that will give you long-lasting protection without the shine. When it starts to cool down at night, bring a long sleeved shirt to wrap around you. No one wants to miss their favorite artist just because they’re chilly.

Rock Some Style - This might not seem vital, but what event isn’t more fun when you’re rocking killer nails or bold accessories? One of our

zodiac siren looks is sure to get you noticed and let your personality shine while dancing the night away. Something as simple as a 2Bandits cuff or whimsical headband can tie your whole look together.

Stay Charged - There is destined to be a whole lot of picture taking, texting and Periscoping (that’s already a verb, right?) while roaming the grounds. That means it’s vital to have an extra charger on hand for your phone. The last thing you want is being stuck with a dead phone and no means for finding your friends who made a run for the front row. An Agent18 charger isn’t much bigger than a lipstick, and will give you those hours of extra battery necessary for capturing memories.

Protect Your Skin - Beyond wearing sunscreen, it’s important to keep your lips moisturized and your skin clean. Outdoor festivals can be absolutely amazing. The one negative side though, is the bathroom situation. Having hand sanitizer with you will wash away your worries and any germs you may pick up throughout your adventures. EOS lip balms and X3 hand sanitizer both do the trick and can be carried in a clutch or small backpack without weighing you down.

Manage the Music - There is a ton to see at festivals, from retail booths of cool posters to pool parties to enough bands to have you covered for a year. You don’t need to experience everything to have a blast, but a little planning will go a long way. If the venue offers a map or app of set times, sit down with your friends and coordinate who wants to see what. Then you’ll always have someone by your side and you won’t miss your favorite act due to misinformation or poor planning. If there is no app available at the festival you attend, set up timed reminders on your phone–a simple vibration can save the day!

Will you be attending a festival or seeing any live music this year? Do you have any helpful tips to make the experience nothing but fun?
