The Changing Face of Blogging

This is not a post I ever thought I'd write, but I feel like I need to post something and empty all the thoughts in my head. As you may have noticed my 'daily' blogging hasn't been so much daily recently. I've lost my passion. I still love make-up, beauty and all things pretty, but the whole blogging thing has become dry for me.

// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //

I started blogging as a 20 year old, studying at Uni and generally enjoying a life of fun. Since then I have grown up a whole lot, I've married my then boyfriend and got a proper job. I'm more mature in my thoughts and actions now and I have other priorities and passions. I still love my smoky eyes and red lips! However these days I'm more passionate about other things such what I eat, all plant based and not processed. If you follow me on Instagram you've probably already caught onto that!
Over the last few months the way I feel about blogging has changed. It doesn't have the same feel to it anymore. It's more intense, you have to take a more professional approach to things. It's not just about writing, but photography, social media, SEO, selling yourself. I have met some truely lovely people through blogging, so I don't want my next sentence to offend anyone. But the blogging world is not what it used to be. It seems to be less about enjoying the love of beauty/make-up together and more about self promotion, getting freebies and even stepping over each other to get to the top. I've stopped joining the Twitter chats for this reason, I used to love getting involved a couple of years ago, it's a shame.
So I guess this brings me around to the summary of todays post. I won't be daily blogging any more. It's a sap of my time and starting to feel more of a chore than a passion. To be blunt a lot of the time I'd rather be cooking, working out or doing real life things. I'm not going to completely stop my blog as I still do love all things beauty. But it's going to be more casual, so one week you may get daily posts and another perhaps no posts at all. I may also throw in some recipes and posts about what I eat. I just want to take the pressure off of myself and reintegrate into real life - you wouldn't believe how much time daily blogging with a fulltime job takes up!

It isn't just just the sap on time either, it always feels like I have to buy things and be up to date with the latest products to really have a place in the beauty blogging world. It's got to the point where I have too much and can't enjoy everything as I once used to. I'm on a mission now to reduce my stash enjoying and using everything as I go. I could write a whole post on this, but I think I'm going to leave my rant on the beauty blogging culture here.
I hope you'll all understand this and respect my decision. It feels weird after daily blogging for almost 4 years! Thank you all for being so supportive ♥
