Green Polka Dots and a Navy Pencil Skirt

Shirt: Charming Charlie
Skirt: Ann Taylor
Boots: stolen from my sister, no idea where they are from
Necklace: Forever21
Earrings: Claire’s
Bracelet: assorted
Watch: DKNY
Ring: Stella & Dot

This is the outfit I put together for St. Patrick’s Day last month. I’ll be honest, I don’t usually create clothing combinations like this. The green polka dot shirt is one I’ve easily paired with black before. But the navy combination is a new one for me. Once I decided I was going with the navy and green mix, which is one I actually really like, the shoe choice became a real issue. I don’t own any navy boots. I didn’t own a pair of tights or legging that would work to wear this outfit with heels or flats. The next logical option is a pair of boots – brown boots because they have the yellow-ish tint that the green shirt contains.

While this isn’t a usual outfit for me, it is one that I actually really like the outcome of. I feel like this is a combination I need to play around with more – blouse, pencil skirt, and interesting colors. Somehow too, I think the brown boots really complete the look.
