Usually my wardrobe consists of a lot of basic-colored items and very few patterns. I suppose part of that is because I have a hard time figuring out how to diversify clothing with crazy patterns to create a variety of looks. When it comes to mixing and matching, it is much easier to work with solids. But since I’m constantly trying to expand my clothing comfort zone and come up with fresh new combinations, I decided to take this Karina dress and come up with new ways to wear it. The first look was something I wore just last week. I wanted to try and work with brown tones instead of my usual black accents. Ok, really I just wanted to wear those boots, so I needed to find a way to mix those in to an outfit.

The second look was from almost a month ago. I wore it to school one day in December. My students commented that in the outfit with the sock bun I was looking very scholarly, which might have just been a sweet way of saying I look like a schoolmarm. This look went with my go-to black accents. I used a cape-style wrap and kept it in place in the front using the dress’ belt, while leaving the back free to flow about. I will admit that while I liked the overall look, the cape kept slipping around making it an outfit that required constant adjusting, which for me is a huge pet peeve. If I were to repeat the look I would probably pin the shoulders of the dress to the cape so as to avoid all the slippage.
