Floral nails – Blue on blue

I love playing around with the same shades of one color. In this case, I chose blue (Depend O2 469) as a base and then I started painting flowers on top of it using the watercolor technique. It’s really easy to use this technique and the result is often so striking! The blue used for the flowers is Ciaté Gelology – Pool Party which is dark enough for the flowers to be visible on top of the medium blue base. It’s a good idea to choose a dark polish if your base is a medium colored one because once the flower petals are diluted, you’ll need all the pigmentation you can get. I added gold in the middle of my petals to create a second type of contrast, a contrast between the finishes of the polishes. The technique used for the flowers is described in my book “Basic Nail Art Techniques and how to combine them”.
