The Menu: Sprouted Kitchen’s Easy Brunch Ideas. (Preferably Served In Bed.)

To say we’re devotees of the Sprouted Kitchen blog is an understatement. When it comes to clean cooking and seasonal, fresh foods, there’s nowhere better to turn than Sara Forte’s beautiful and inspiring site (and cookbooks). Her photographer husband Hugh is the talent behind all those gorgeous, mouthwatering images, and their adorable son Curran completes the family portrait as the newest Forte taste tester.

So what better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with delicious yet wholesome and easy brunch ideas from the newly released The Sprouted Kitchen Bowl and Spoon: Simple and Inspired Whole Foods Recipes to Savor and Share cookbook (and an exclusive cocktail recipe to cap things off). That’s right, mommas. Sit back, relax, and let someone else do the cooking (hint, hint, guys). Breakfast (in bed) is served.

“This will be my first Mother’s Day as my son Curran was born late May last year. My husband Hugh is an early riser, and has been great about taking Curran downstairs with him to start coffee and give him a bottle so I can have an extra thirty minutes or so to wake up. Every now and then, they bring me breakfast and coffee in bed, and that’s our Mother’s Day plan this year. Hugh makes delicious eggs, and we'll throw something on the tray for Curran so he doesn't try to sabotage the entire meal. A large, solid tray helps everything from spilling, but in general, you must stay flexible. Breakfast in bed is not the leisurely meal I once knew, the formerly perfect and quiet first few bites of the day. Now, I just want to be with my boys, grabby hands and all!”
