A rare snap of underwater craft taken by man on cargo vessel gives no cause to suspect anything out of the ordinary, insists the Finnish Coast Guard, adding that Russian-built submarines are often tested in the deep waters of the Baltic.

A rare photograph capturing a submarine surfacing in waters off the coast of Finland gives no cause to suspect anything out of the ordinary, the Finnish coastguard has said.

A sailor on a merchant ship snapped the craft in the early hours of Monday morning, in international waters southwest of Helsinki.
