Makeup for Glasses Tips and Tricks

As I was applying my makeup yesterday I realized that wearing makeup with glasses can sometimes feel futile. It can feel like you're wasting your time because you may feel like your glasses hide your hard work. However, that does NOT have to be the case. Today I'm going to share some tips with you, as well as review a new awesome liquid liner I received by ZuZu Luxe*.
There are downsides to wearing glasses, but there are also positives.
Positives:
  • But, you can wear a more dramatic look, and behind glasses it doesn't look as overdone or dramatic. You can still wear mascara, but curl your lashes or use a curling mascara so they don't rub against your lenses.
  • Matte shades tend to look better on the lids and in the crease, but a shimmery inner corner looks awesome with glasses.
  • Winged liner looks amazing with glasses. In a way, it really elongates your eyes behind glasses, even more so than without them.
  • Smokey eyes are beautiful behind glasses as well.
  • Bright lips are awesome with glasses too!

Some things you need to be wary of:
  • Undone eyebrows really stand out with glasses. You need to upkeep your brows!
  • This also applies to under-eye circles. They will really stand out with glasses, so conceal!
  • I feel like mascara on your lower lashes as well is important, or they kind of just disappear.
  • Go easy on the blush. The way glasses sit above your cheeks really draws attention to the blush, too much will give you clown cheeks.
  • Wear bronzer as well, but not too much.

I'm going to show you a look I did that I think is "glasses friendly". I can do more of these if you'd like. I was also considering writing a blog post about picking out glasses that suit your face shape, let me know if you're interested!

As you can tell, the sun really wasn't helping with the glare on my glasses, haha. It's unavoidable and one of the major drawbacks. I'm sure you can get some glare resistant lenses, I just don't have them. Here are some close ups.

So, I didn't use all matte shades for this look and you don't have to either but they do tend to look better. I also did a wing with my eyeliner and I used a colored liner. I like to use different colors for a subtle "pop". If you have one that compliments your eye color, that's even better!
Here are the products I used as well as a mini review of the liquid liner I used.

The eyeliner I used is the ZuZu Luxe Liquid eyeliner* in Amethyst, which is a deep purple. The other color I swatched is Storm which is an awesome Navy Blue. These don't have to be applied multiple times, one swipe is actually opaque.
Here's a little info about them: It's Gluten free and Vegan. They contain no synthetic ingredients. It also contains Jojoba oil to hydrate.
This eyeliner is smudge and water resistant.
I've used these a few times now and I can say that they are definitely not waterproof and they are pretty easy to remove. They also don't stain your eyelids, which is a problem I've had in the past with liquid liners. They are pretty smudge resistant though, they stay put all day.
The colors are beautiful. They compliment any look, and while they are subtle they are also noticeable but just enough. It's not an "in your face" kind of thing.
I really like these liners, so you'll probably see them in future looks as well. You can find them and the other products in the line at this link.
I hope these tips help you with applying makeup to wear with glasses!
