Transparency, Clarity & Bootstrapping

So.

I’m just at a point now where I have a million thoughts racing through my head (again) and I felt like writing a blog post would center me and give me clarity.

I know I still haven’t been writing as often as I thought (and perhaps said) I would. So here I am, intent on putting more of my thoughts out on cyberspace, for anyone’s consumption, and consequent judgment, approval or acceptance.

In a 10 days, we’ll be having our 3rd run of Muni Market Day, and I actually do feel like we’re getting more traction with it. I’m a bit disappointed though that it’s still not something I can rely on for Muni’s financial stability, but I still believe it’s a meaningful endeavor for myself, my team, our collaborators, and guests who attend, so we’re still intent on pursuing it.

It’s a struggle to be bootstrapping all the way, and yet, this is the way I know how to do things. I don’t want to rely on external funding. Not to say that bootstrapping is the best way to go about things, but there’s something about getting external funding that can bring so much more pressure to please people whose vision may not exactly be the same as your own.

Now, whether or not that is just an excuse for not wanting the pressure, or fear speaking, I am not certain.

However, we are brewing ways to make Muni events more profitable, and also for us to produce a revenue-generating event later in the year to support monthly operations, and allow me to grow a solid team.

More on that in a future post. :)
