Continuing a Legacy - National Civil Rights Museum Renovation

In honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the National Civil Rights Museum is hosting a day-long celebration that includes music performances and family craft activities in their annual King Day Celebration. Unlike previous years, visitors can now view a newly renovated museum that includes new exhibits.

I was privileged to tour the renovation last summer with last year's national president of the American Institute of Architects Helene Combs Dreiling, NCRM's administrative director Tracy Lauritzen Wright, and the NCRM renovation architecture project team from Self Tucker Architects - Jimmie Tucker, Mario Walker, and Patricia Quist-Therson.

We were also joined by architect Josh Flowers who invited me on the tour as the photographer for media purposes. I experienced the tour mostly through the camera lens, but from my viewpoint, the updated interactive screens and wall graphics caught my attention. I definitely plan on going back to tour it more closely.
