Runway Report: Matthew Williamson Fall 2015

Matthew Williamson looked to the stars for FW15, drawing inspiration from the zodiac signs with a collection that had his signature Seventies bohemian vibes cross-referenced with Eastern flair. In a palette of lavenders, teals, reds and golds, shiny silks and brocades paired with feathered fur accents and suede fringe boots, telling a glammed up texture story borrowed from the Orient. Williamson’s prints swirled with retro-feeling florals also envisioned in intricate embroidery and pops of leopard, belted with wrapped fabric nodding to kimonos.

The silhouettes were far more ladylike than Williamson’s normal flowing gowns (though there were of course a few of those too). But suiting separates showed the Brit bohemian gal gone grown-up chic in looks that could uptown while staying true to Williamson’s free-spirited whimsy. Colorful gemstone encrusted bucket bags, gold floral-lensed shades, and chain link belts completed the looks with opulent accent, while loose flowing long locks and dewey skin kept things youthful and fresh.

We’re making note to try the playfully bold print mix and match and unexpected celestial color combos.
