Trending: Maroon at Fall 2012 NY Fashion Week

- By Teresa Greenfeld - A few of our favorites from Fall 2012 NYFW: Top Row (from left to right): Vivienne Tam booties, The Row clutch. Bottom Row (left to right): Peter Som, DVF, DKNY, Victoria, Victoira Beckham, Jason Wu. - From Lincoln Center to Milk Studios, New York Fashion Week was filled with wine. I don’t mean the kind that comes in a bottle (though I’m sure there was plenty of that, too). I’m referring to the color. Shades of maroon and burgundy were everywhere; offered up in every possible fabric, and in everything from dresses to coats, boots to bags. A universally flattering shade, this not quite reddish/brownish/purple-ish color is also incredibly versatile; it’ll slide seamlessly into your wardrobe, complimenting just about any other color. Our favorite fall runway looks won’t be available for months – a tortuous amount of time for us immediate gratification addicts – but that doesn’t mean we should wait for the first of the falling leaves to wear this trend. For spring, maroon looks so fresh paired with anything pink (as seen at DVF, above). We’re seeing blue and turquoise jewelry everywhere; mix a chunky turquoise necklace with an airy burgundy dress. A maroon bag solves the age-old problem of black vs. brown (the same goes for shoes, too). Here are some of our available-right-now favorites: Stella McCartney Oversized Sunglasses - AG Sateen Legging - Gucci Ombre Leather Brogues - Mango Shiny Appliques Bracelet - ASOS Leather Meatal Buckle Satchel - Heather Maxi Tee Dress - - Follow us on Bloglovin‘
