London Calling

At the end of February I had an amazing couples weekend getaway in London, England. I was supposed to go alone and meet up with my blogging friends in London. Not wanting to go alone I invited a friend of mine (Nicole) who happened to be turning 40 during that weekend! The girl’s weekend quickly became a couples weekend.

I’ll be sharing some photos (and recommendations on where to eat and stay) from the weekend but I thought I would share one of my travel outfits today and at least one more this week. London is a very fashionable city, but it has a sense of humour and an ease to it’s fashion scene. My weekend wardrobe consisted of basic colours (black, blue and grey) and classic silhouettes. No “American Tourist” look for me, that meant no fanny packs or back packs, jeans/chinos with white running shoes or anything that screamed I’m a tourist so please take advantage of me.

Shoes where comfortable and made for walking on the cobblestone, light layers for a very nice English winter and an easy sight seeing schedule. We slept in (till 9:30 am), didn’t jam everything in to the weekend and really enjoyed the amazing city.

We had left -40 degrees Celsius in Canada with highs of 9-11 degrees Celsius in London. It’s funny because one day I walked around wearing the outfit below (with the addition of a scarf). We saw groups of tourists (most of them Italian) wearing heavy winter parkas, boots, toques, mittens and winter boots. Canadians have a very different sense of how cold London winters are.

A little thank you to Joanna from Poppy’s Style for introducing me to All Saints.

These boots are a favourite of mine. I am six feet tall and most all leather boots are hard for me to wear because my calf is higher then the average woman. These boots have an elasticized back which makes them easy to wear and comfortable. I travelled in them and wore them my first day and night in England. If you have issues finding boots elasticized backs are a sure solution.

Outfit Details: Coat, All Saints (here, black version here, black jacket version here) || Oxford Shirt, Gap (here) || Black Jeans, Yoga Jeans (old, similar here) || Boots, Guilhermina (c/o) || Handbag, Mulberry (old, black version here)
