Dance Legend Top Aquarelle Sisley & Chagall

Hey all :) The more I see of Dance Legend, the more I'm loving the brand. We know they make some stunning multichromes, holos and glitters, but the polishes that I used for this mani are a thing I can't remember seeing before. They are polishes from the Top Aquarelle collection, a collection of 12 very sheer polishes, ment for coloring in images. Now at first I wasn't sure about them, I applied them on a swatchstick and after 3 coats they were still more sheer than anything else in my collection, and well, you could use any polish for coloring stamping by making a decal of it, right? But as soon as I tried them on my nails, I noticed they were something else :) Here's the mani, I'll tell more about the polishes further down!

These polishes felt a lot more goopy when working with them than they did on the plastic swatchsticks (from more watery on the sticks to thicker jelly on the nails), and I didn't expect to enjoy using them as much as I did :) They were so easy to work with! I started with a pale grey base and stamped with black, but then I quickly found out that the polishes can smudge the black a little, so I applied some top coat first. It's very well possible that it had to do with the black I used, the Konad black stamping polish is so pigmented, it easily smudges and stains. Either way, using top coat in between solved that!

The polishes have a small brush, and can be used for the coloring straight from the bottle, but I went for slanted, flat nail art brushes to fill in the corners easier. Even when used on the smooth top coat base, they didn't flow out as much as I thought they would, yet they can easily be blended on the nail. That wasn't my intention and I ended up with some accidental blends, but it's good to know for next time, heh. But that did give me an idea, and I cheated a little: I received the turquoise and purple, the blue was created by mixing the 2 on my placemat. The mixed result had some airbubbles (this really isn't your standard polish formula), but I didn't have problems with using the mix on my nails. I wish I had all colors, you could do so much cool things with them! The result looks like glass, and I think with some more experience, I'll have more control over how sheer/built up the result will be (up to a certain point that is, these stay sheers afterall).

Next time I'll try it with a different black stamping polish, it should be even easier to stay within the lines if you don't need top coat in between - although it doesn't matter if you do go over the lines, you won't be able to tell that the polish is on top of the black. I really love how this turned out, it's such a fun mani! And I can totally see beautiful gradients inside stamping created with these polishes ♥
