8 Ways to Mark your Marriage with Christ's Love

Zephaniah 3:17
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

A love marked by giving not getting. Christ's love makes the church whole. his words evoke her beauty. Everything He does and says, is designed to bring out the best in her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness.

I sat in church this last Sunday and felt such a message of the Lord come upon me as I read these verses, that were a part of the message but what God was speaking to me was not part of the message (and I had a hard time concentrating on my pastor's message after God spoke this truth to me). My pastor has been talking about God calling us His "fave" (favorite) and what that looks like. I read these verses about the way God loves us and immediately heard God say, and this is how I ask you to love your spouse.

God's way of loving us is where we learn to truly love our spouse. I've heard this. I've known this. I've read this. I've even acted in this way but man when God showed me a break down of these verses that morning, I crumbled. I wanted to go home immediately, write this on our mirror and on our big chalkboard...put it everywhere so that I am constantly reminded to love Kevin the way Christ loves me. I want Kevin to know that he's my earthly fave always and forever. I want the world to see our marriage as an example of Christ's love.

Here's the break down God revealed to me in these two verses.

1.Delight in gladness in each other.
2.In love, calm each other's fears.
3. Rejoice in joyfulness with one another.
4. Mark your marriage with giving.
5. Make your words those that fill one another in love.
6. Make your words those that evoke beauty out of each other.
7. Make all you do/say bring out the best in one another.
8. Dress each other in the very best by the way you love.

God does all this to show you that you are his fave. In the same way, you are called to do all of this for your earthly fave, your spouse.

Mark your marriage with Christ's love my imitating His love.
