July in Review :: Recipes + Reflections

Hi!!! Grab some coffee, we’re getting wordy today!

My lovely friend Becca at Amuse Your Bouche does these fantastic little month-in-review posts to reflect on recent recipes and I just adore them! It’s a great way to play catchup on some deliciousness I may have missed out on and I always find a new recipe to bookmark in the process. Totally a win!

With all the buckets-o-chaos around here lately I thought it would be fun to look back on the the prior month’s recipes, shenanigans, and stories and jump ahead with some sneak peeks of what’s to come around here!

It’s a little embarrassing how excited I am about this. I did a little rainy day introspection and decided I really wanted to start writing more on this little blog of mine, and not just about veggies. (Though there will still be a ton of veggie chat – get ready for it!) These posts will be the perfect chance to get a little personal with y’all and I’m SO FLIPPING EXCITED! Let’s get things started!

First, the FOOD!

This dip rocked my face off and it’s about to do it again. I’m stocking up on cilantro tomorrow so I can make a big batch of Creamy Cilantro Cucumber Dip and put it on everything in sight!

After a bit of digging, I finally the brand new bottle of Sriracha chili sauce that I bought before the move. July’s Sriracha Recipe Round-Up and my tasty new Honey Sriracha Lime Dressing have had me craving a cucumber salad with rooster sauce like woah. You’ll never guess where I found my beloved hot sauce.

WITH MY SHAMPOO!

How hilarious would it have been if I mixed those two up? Actually the vinegar in the sauce would probably be pretty good for my scalp… Or set it on fire. I’m partial to believing the latter.

Moving on!

Other favorites from July include a ridiculously amazing One-Pot Zucchini Noodle Soup that I am so stoked to make for my in-laws this week! Paul refused to let me bring my spiralizer with me (yet he let me pack Sriracha; priorities!) so while my “precious” in in storage, I’ll be making this Summery soup with a veggie peeler!

I also made the most baller banana bread with a banana split twist and broke out the rainbow chip sprinkles to make the most colorful granola bars EVER!

Those babies are straight up technicolor!

Overall it was a delicious month! I didn’t get as much recipe testing done as I usually do, I’m pretty impressed that I blogged as much as I did in July. Between military obligations, house hunting, packing, and moving in with the in-laws while all our stuff vanishes into storage for a little while, I was pretty darn productive for a space case like myself!

I’ll take ALL the gold stars! All of them!

So that brings us to August. August, you crafty little minx, you! I’m curious to see how this month pans out.

Paul is back at work and about 7 hours away, so the chickpea and I have one last road trip before we’re finally home. By home I, of course, mean another hotel until the actual house is ready. Parrrteeee! I’m sure I should be stressed out over the thought, but as most of you already know, hotel living is a common occurrence around here. Ironically the last month of my pregnancy two years ago was spent living out of a hotel in Pensacola and this August will be exactly the same… only that extra 30 pounds of cute will be running around in circles vs kicking my organs and making me feel like a beached whale. I think I’ve got it WAY better this time around!

With this month already shaping up to a be a busy one I’m determined to make it equally as fun. Today alone has been filled with games, coloring, mommy-daughter kitchen adventures (the chickpea can whisk eggs like no other!) and the most epic homemade funfetti play dough.

Yes, FUNFETTI PLAY DOUGH! My hands smell like cake batter right now and I want to eat them!

Before I hit 700 words (just hit it – whoops!) and ramble any further, I’ll leave you with this scrumptious zucchini bread photo:

If this second cup of coffee ever kicks in I’ll be typing the recipe up for you during the nugget’s nap! Stay tuned for a whole lot of deliciousness!
