Tying Skills 3.0

Ever since I’ve delved so far into editorial research to the point where I’m falling asleep with bizarre dreams of Lindsey Wixson et al running around, I’ve been increasingly incorporating ideas triggered by images I’ve seen into my sartorial choices. Leafing through the pages of Schön! and DANSK, two firm favourites or the unbelievable Malevich exhibition I saw in London a few weeks ago, I’ve noticed how my work has me trying to be increasingly creative with how to wear certain items in shape altering ways on my own bod. Being my own guinea pig has no negative side effects after all.

Playing with textures, colour combinations and especially silhouettes is even better when you come across so many well constructed images that have your inspiration trigger going off the charts. For this look it came directly from Stop It Right Now‘s beyond amazing hobo-chic look featuring heartache inducing layers and a sick mix of wool and denim. Sartorial omnom.

I wanted to reconstruct the “something tied around the waist” aspect and chose two of my favourite blazers to bring some limb confusion into the mix. Blazers draped nonchalantly across the shoulders, a long coat and a blazer, sure, but dammit this whole tie thing feels very fresh. Jayne’s tying skills are clearly from another planet. See more proof here.

I am wearing a Comme des Garcons blazer, a Henrik Vibskov men’s blazer tied around the waist, a Zara dress, Casadei boots and a Céline bag.
