Zoey Skye Marlor / Birth Story / Part 1

Wednesday November 5th, 2014
At around 2:30am contractions started- started timing them on my app and they were about 7-10 minutes apart for a while and over the span of 30 minutes -1 hr they were getting more painful as they went along so I decided to call the doctor on call (3:19AM) - it took a while for them to get back to me but I went ahead and started getting things all packed and by that time I woke Ty up telling him I thought it was the real thing.. he got up and started packing as well while we waited. I then called our neighbor (3:35am) and she luckily answered right away and arranged for Lexi to go stay at their house.. (our game plan).. so we finished getting everything packed up.

Dr called back (3:39am) and she asked what was happening and I told her they were about 7 minutes apart I was dilated to a 2 the week prior and they were really painful when they came. She suggested I just come in to get checked. We called my mom & dad around (4:00 am) to let them know we were headed to the hospital. At 4:30 they checked me in at the hospital and told me I was dilated to a 5 and 90% effaced and that we were going to have our baby! They then got my IV ready and started the process. They had to check my blood work before they could give me the epidural. It seemed like it took forever! 5:55am I finally got my epidural!! Seriously it was becoming torture when contractions came on! I didn't have near as painful contractions with Lexi. I gave Ty and my nurses two options.. I was either going to die or pass out during them.. no one seemed to care hah. I kept asking what was taking so long to get my epidural.. but asking on repeat obviously didn't help my situation. I remember being so afraid of getting my epidural with Lex - the whole not feeling half my body for some reason freaked me out, this time around I could not wait for it! My epidural was a pretty painful process and of course had a contraction through it... I was clinging on to my nurse trying to hold still and not pass out. Once my epidural kicked in.. it was pure bliss! I just started to get tired since I maybe had gotten 1-2 hours prior to waking up to contractions.

My water still hadn't broke and they were waiting for my doctor to get in who wasn't on call until 7am. Around 6:50 they started getting me all prepped and my water had broke on its own in the mean time. The nurse had me do a practice push because they still were unsure of how long it would take for me to get her out.. right in the middle of the first push she had me immediately stop and called in for the doctor and other nurses. It kinda scared me but apparently she was right there so she just wanted the doctor to be there for the actual birth!

So two more pushes and at 7:28am little Zoey Skye Marlor was born!! 5.6 lbs and 18" long! It all happened so quickly! I remember getting strolled off to our new room after the delivery room and thinking holy crap we just had her.. it was so crazy!! Only complaint were the contractions.. everything else seemed ideal! I don't want to go into too many details.. but the recovery & delivery was so so much better/easier than what I went through with Lex. It made me extremely grateful! I face-timed my mom during the delivery since she wasnt able to be there when Zoey came into the world.. she did book a flight as soon as she found out and got into Dallas at 1:45 that afternoon, I seriously have the best mom!

I was getting paranoid with the fact she could come early.. but I thought it was just that.. paranoia.
20 days early didn't quite give me enough time to be fully prepared.. but thankfully I had been on a getting ready kick just in case! My body had been kinda acting different the couple weeks prior.. I felt more random contractions throughout the days that would take my breath away but nothing ever consistent. The week prior at my 4 week out appointment I was dilated to a 2. I also had done more walking that weekend before for trick or treating and our Clue Game party thing we went to as mentioned in a prior post.. so looking back I am not so surprised it all happened so early. But I was a little nervous to actually go to the hospital and call our neighbor waking her up in the middle of the night in case it was a false alarm.. but at every contraction I was getting, I was reassured.. ok this is most likely the real thing! Oh and Tyson knew how important pictures of the whole birth were to me, so he played photographer which is why you don't see him much.. I was able to grab the camera a couple of time throughout it all but so thankful he took all the pictures he did!
