Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette

*purchased by me

Makeup Revolution almost seems like the new ELF this year, as it has a reputation for having affordable and amazing makeup. I have not delved into this brand much, because I will be completely honest: most of the time I just find myself using mid-range to high-end products instead. Also, we’re talking about eyeshadow, my favorite thing of which I always have high expectations.

Anyway, I picked up this Salvation palette at Ulta when I was in Kansas with my sister. I had a $10 off any purchase coupon, so I scored this palette for free! She actually picked out the palette because I couldn’t decide between two of them.

What I like about the color scheme is that it does have some neutrals, but also has some nice bright shades, which is what I love. There are 12 shimmer shades and six matte shades.

I recently brought this palette with me on a trip to Philadelphia, because I wanted to use it more. The mattes are surprisingly good; they don’t initially swatch well, but they do apply pigmented with a brush.

The shimmer shades are smooth and while I do build them up a little bit, they are easy to work with.

My favorite shades in the palette are the deep blue, the purple, and the murky greenish one on the second row to the right.

I did not experience fallout during the day and while I was on my trip, my shadow looked good from morning until night, so about 14 hours of wear each day with a primer.

It is possible to achieve fun looks with this palette, from bright and colorful, to a smoky eye, to something natural. While I wouldn’t compare the texture to a higher end brand, the shadows do perform well. They simply have a *slight* grittiness to them that typically isn’t found at a higher price point. That said, I wish something like this had been around when I was in high school!

Overall, it’s a fun palette and won’t break your wallet.
