#ablecs15 Week 4: Sporting

It's time for the second mani of #ablecs15 challenge and the theme today is Sporting. I suggested this theme for this challenge since I thought it would be a fun and versatile theme, but also because I had the idea in my head about this manicure and I knew I would do it anyhow, so what would be better idea than to include it to this challenge. I've actually especially loved seeing all your sporting manicures this week, because it has been great fun to see what sports you guys enjoy to do or watch.
It isn't probably the biggest surprise that I used biathlon and Kaisa Mäkäräinen as my inspiration for this theme since I've already done biathlon nails before and I've also talked about how much I enjoy watching it. My bf bought me this Kaisa beanie as a birthday present last month which was pretty awesome, so after I got it I immediately knew I had to do a mani inspired by it. It's a really fun cap, I love the design and I think it was a great inspiration for a manicure.
Of course this is also quite current manicure and theme since the biathlon world championships are happening as we speak and they are in Finland this year. What makes it better is the fact that I live in Joensuu which is just right next to Kontiolahti where the championships are happening, so of course the event is quite noticeable here in Joensuu too. What's even better, is that I have tickets to go see the races next week! Hopefully the weather will be nicer then and we of course hope also that Kaisa can do her best then.
I first painted my nails with OPI Angel with a Leadfoot (two coats) and then I painted my tips with Picture Polish Instinct. By the way, funnily enough, the print on this Picture Polish was quite fitting for the sporting theme in general and also for biathlon: just go with it, just trust it... instinct.
After the white and blue were dry enough I used some vinyls from Vinyl It Up and taped my nails with those in order to paint the black parts on middle of my nails. I used Essie Licorice for that and then I just did the dots with Angel with a Leadfoot and a large dotting tool. There are some smudges here and there as I didn't somehow get those vinyls on my nails as neatly as I could have and I wasn't brave enough to apply any top coat before taking pictures since I was sure I would smudge the white and black. So the mani isn't as neat as I would have maybe liked it to be, but just like I said, I really think the cap acted as a great inspiration for a manicure and I love this look on my nails!
