Barry M Winter 2014 Silks

Barry M Autumn/Winter Silks

Barry M are back with some more silks for winter. The spring silks caught me by surprise a little because I loved them far more than I thought I would. Pastels aren’t really my cup of tea though so I was excited to see more silks for winter, but in some very festive colours.

‘Forest’ is lovely, but I am so confused. There’s a slight green tiny in the bottle, but it’s blue. At best it can look teal in certain lighting, but it aint green which the name would imply. To the naked eye, it felt even more blue. It was lovely though, I would’ve just loved for it to be a genuine forest green.

‘Poppy’ wins me over for the name alone, though the colour is pretty too. This looked more shimmery than the others.

Narrowly pipping the rest to the top spot for me is ‘Orchid’. It’s a delightful purple, really regal.

The formula on all of these was practically identical. It’s hard to compare them to the original silks because the colours are so dark whereas they were the lightest of pastels, but these don’t show the brush strokes that were visible in the pastels. They are all shown here with two coats and no top coat so you can see the natural finish. I love them all, the they were all really smooth and easy formulas to work with. I also think they’d make great bases for some festive stamping.

My picks: All of them!

What do you think to these compared to the original silks?
