Friday Fancy

I don’t know about you, but this was a good week. To be honest, a big part of that was because the red cups are back at Starbucks. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I am quite the sucker for them… and have gone two of the five days this week. Speaking of red, I also got a poppy from a Veteran in the ferry terminal this morning so that’s only put me in better spirits.

Red has never been a color I’ve loved, (it’s very much lacking in my wardrobe and home decor), but lately pops of it have been making me happy. Perhaps because the leaves are turning red and I am grasping to hold onto Fall as long as possible? Or maybe because deep down, I’m very excited for the Winter holidays? It has been an internal struggle fighting off those Christmas commercials.

Let’s go with option one and keep the latter our little secret.

• Jamie Oliver’s Crispy squid & prawns with homemade sweet chilli sauce is making me seriously hungry (though his recipes always look delicious).
• I know the vampire trend is dying down, but some Romanian scientists just created artificial blood (it hasn’t been tested yet, but maybe soon).
• This Penthouse at Park Row is for sale for a cool $19.9 million. It needs a ton of work but my goodness, those details are charming.
• On Sunday, there was a partial eclipse in New York… though I missed it because I opted to get more sleep. If that photo doesn’t strike your fancy, be sure to check out these other Astronomy photos from NASA.
• What the world would look like if the ice caps melted (very cool, but this makes me re-evaluate where we’re hoping to move).
