3-Day Healthy Meal Kit from Urban Remedy (Review of Cindy Crawford’s Essentials)

I was so excited to team up with Urban Remedy for this post because I think you guys are going to love their wellness kits—think juice cleanse, but with food. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I’m a big fan of juicing and have reviewed several cleanses for P&I, but I understand that not everyone shares that same enthusiasm. Urban Remedy’s healthy meal kits take care of the three main concerns I hear regarding cleansing:

  1. No chewing for three whole days? It’s too extreme. With the Cindy Crawford’s Essentials kit you get all the benefits of raw, plant power and you can chew them. When I’ve done juice cleanses in the past, I’ll always miss the act of eating—it’s not hunger; I just want to chew. Problem solved!
  2. Sugar overload! No thanks. Some (emphasis on “some”!) juice cleanses admittedly do have a lot of sugar in them if they’re primarily fruit juice. The juice that comes in the Cindy Crawford’s Essentials kit from Urban Remedy is mostly veggies and low-glycemic.
  3. I can’t go without coffee. Nope. No way. For regular coffee drinkers, a juice cleanse can mean caffeine withdrawal headaches and fatigue. If you’re not ready to commit to that, these meal kits may be just the thing for you—they come with cold brewed coffee (optional)!

I should probably back up and start with the basics. Urban Remedy had me at “hello.” Or, more specifically, at their tagline: Food is healing. I love that! In addition to offering raw, ready-to-eat meals, snacks, juices, tinctures, and juice cleanses, Urban Remedy has healthy meal plan kits that provide you with three day’s worth of organic, low-glycemic, plant-based goodness. There are four kits to choose from: Beauty Kit, Immunity Kit, Metabolism Kit and Cindy Crawford’s Essentials (the one I did). At $224.99 for a one-time purchase, it’s definitely not cheap—but also right about what you’d expect to pay for a juice cleanse. And I can’t say enough good things about my experience—it truly is like giving your body a gift. Plus you get a break from cooking and doing dishes…

As you can see, each day is packed with juice, salad, smoothies, and plant-based snacks. It comes out to roughly 1,500 calories a day, and I found everything to be extremely flavorful. The dressings and sauces really turn what’s otherwise a bowl of shredded veggies into a satisfying, delicious meal. I never went to bed hungry, and had lots of energy throughout the three days to workout and teach. Having all the meals and snacks in grab-and-go containers made it super easy to bring food and juices with me to the studio.

If I had to pick a favorite, the Mint Cacao Chip Smoothie was a definite highlight of each day. I need to figure out how to recreate it at home! The cacao nibs added an amazing texture, and it was so filling and delicious.

Another thing I loved about the kit was the flexibility. You pick what you want to eat each meal from the selection they send; you can choose to get a daily dose of caffeine; and you can opt to go 100% for three days or spread the meals throughout the week to supplement your regular diet.

If you haven’t heard of Urban Remedy, I highly recommend you check them out! I would absolutely do another of their healthy meal kits, and would love to try one of their juice cleanses as well. If you like the idea of “cleansing” but don’t think three days of liquid is right for you, one of these meal kits would be perfect.

Have you done a raw food cleanse like this before? Would you try one?
