Viking Nursery Moodboard

You might not be able to tell from my blogging posts lately, but I am in fact nearly 37 weeks pregnant. Yikes! The last time I took and posted a pregnancy photo, I was only 15 weeks pregnant! I guess that’s one of the differences between a first and second baby. When I was pregnant with Jaye, I took weekly pictures and journaled about them each week.

But even if I haven’t been posting about the baby boy on the way, I have been thinking and getting ready for his arrival. So today, I’m sharing the plans for his nursery. I fell in love with some fabric and created a Viking Nursery Moodboard around it.

1. Here’s the awesome fabric, the Alexander Henry Viking line. I’m going with The Viking Sea in Taupe and The Vikings in Slate. The window will have a blackout Roman shade with The Viking Sea fabric on it. I’m planning to use The Vikings fabric for a pillow for the rocker and maybe a pouf. My big goal is to sew a blanket/quilt combining both fabrics and some solids.

2. We painted the ceiling dark blue. I’m going to use my Cricut to make some silvery star decals and put them up in constellation shapes. Orion is my favorite constellation.

3. These three Viking ships are his mobile. I bought it from toymakertothekings on Etsy and it’s even more awesome in real life. The ships float and sail beautifully and I think our new little man will love looking at it above his crib.

4. Reindeer rug. Because how cool is that. We’ve had a cowhide rug on the living room floor for over a year now and it is so incredibly durable and kid-proof. Because cows don’t stain. The reindeer hide is so fluffy and soft and awesome, too. Both Jaye and D’artagnan took some great naps on it the week it arrived. Jaye was feeling under the weather and twice just curled up on it and fell asleep. When I first unrolled the rug, D’artagnan sniffed every inch of it and then rolled all over it; I think he things he conquered the reindeer.

5. I found some striped soft-sided totes at Home Goods. They don’t look exactly like this, they have more red on them. I think they’ll be useful in the closet and as a dirty clothes hamper.

6. Wall Art. The whale and shrimp print is from Cuddlefishpress on Etsy and the oak tree/acorn print is actually a greeting card from Freya Art. I have multiple of the wooden shields. I’m going to stain them and add the letters of his name. So for now, those are a secret.

Obviously, he’ll have a crib, dresser, and rocker as well. We are reusing Jaye’s crib from her Noah’s Ark nursery. And the credenza from our dining room will become the baby’s dresser and changing table.

Hopefully, by the end of this week, our Spa-Punk Master Bathroom remodel will be completed. Then Phil and I can move by into the master bedroom (we’ve been camping out in the nursery for now) and I can focus on actually making this Viking Nursery Moodboard a reality instead of just a moodboard.
