Master Bedroom: A High End Look for Less

As a designer I am constantly perusing the internet for inspiration. Although many of my ideas are my own, I usually draw upon some source of inspiration, whether it’s art, nature, architecture, or spaces designed by others. That’s why if you follow me on Pinterest you know that I spend a lot of time pinning! And that’s nothing compared to my ideabook activity on Houzz.

Anyway, as I was going through my Pinterest boards and Houzz account I noticed that there was one room that I had pinned/saved numerous times. It is the Millbrook Modern master bedroom by Morgan Harrison Home that was featured on the cover of New England Home Magazine last spring.

I’m apparently not the only one who loved it because this bedroom has been highlighted as one TOP PINTEREST PINS of 2013 in Home Decor.

For some reason I am particularly drawn to this room. To me it embodies everything that a master bedroom should be: simple, serene, relaxing.

So I decided that I was going to do something I never do as a designer; I’m almost copying it. Sure, I use Houzz and Pinterest for design inspiration but I use these site only to help me come up with design plans that are uniquely my own. Since our existing bedroom set is far too big for our new house and my time and budget is limited, I am recreating the room “Sabrina Soto High/Low style”; that is, taking a high end designer room and creating it for less.

Here is my materials board for the room.
