30 Style and Beauty featuring iCurvy

How would your friends or family describe your style?

I think they would say that I’m ‘put together’ – which would be a euphemism for slightly overdressed, accessorised and a little matchy-matchy.

Who inspires you and why?

I don’t think I could narrow it down at the moment. I don’t thing I have a clearly defined style, I’m eclectic, I like trying new trends. It’s probably why I’m so addicted to Pinterest – I love that it allows me to draw inspiration across trends and body-types and try to find new styles and trends that work for me. I love taking a piece that I consistently wear the same way, and finding some Pinterest inspiration to wear it another way.

What are two things you bought and never wore?

I have a few ‘just in case’ dresses that hang at the back of my wardrobe. Generally, i fall in love with them, and then they go on sale and I just can’t resist. A beautiful sequin white and gold dress that I’m just dying for an excuse to wear. Another stunning tulle white lace dress with neon pink appliqué – again, just waiting for the right occasion. *sigh* it’s definitely a sign that my wardrobe is way more fabulous than my life.

Describe your biggest beauty disaster (and do you have photographic evidence)?

My mum did a fabulously vigilant job of protecting my fair skin as a child… Oh yeah, except for that one time when I was 9 months old at a picnic and wouldn’t go to sleep, so she faced me into the sun to force me to shut my eyes, it worked a treat, but I also ended up with pretty bad sunburn. Ever since, mum took extra care to apply and reapply sunscreen and seek shade. I do honestly feel like I have her vigilance to thank for my great skin. But as a teenager, I placed a lot less importance on sun safety, and a lot more importance on frolicking with friends in the sunshine. I got horribly horribly sunburnt many times and regret it deeply. In particular, my bottom lip suffered and was burned way too many times, to the point of blistering and peeling – ugly disastrous stuff. It means that my bottom lip is now particularly susceptible to both sun and wind burn, and I’m very prone to cold sores.

What always makes you feel amazing when you wear it?

Sequins. Always sequins. Whether it’s a full sequin dress, or some little bling earrings – a bit of sparkle always makes me feel amazing.
