Blood orange rosemary gin cocktail

Apparently the produce and booze talk to each other in my kitchen. WTF!? Whatevs….. I’m a goober.

Remember when I made blood orange bitters and rosemary sugar cubes? Well…. you KNOW I had to make a cocktail with those. We still have a giant bottle of blood orange bitters, so I basically, took the same ingredients and added a bunch o gin. Never a bad time when you can say that eh?
Sooooo….. warning: these bad boys are evil. Evil evil little cocktails that taste like delicious juice but are really “get you drunk” bombs.
Delicious? yes. Tart and sweet at the same time? yes. Refreshing and uplifting in the middle of winter? yes.
Evil? yes.
I had one and found myself thinking MTV’s ‘Are You the One’ is the greatest thing in the world. um………. what? That is a total guilty pleasure HORRIBLE show!

Homemade gin cocktail with blood orange bitters, fresh squeezed blood orange juice and fresh rosemary.
Serves: 1 cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 sugar cube*
- 2-4 dashes blood orange or angostura bitters
- 4-5 rosemary leaves
- Half a blood orange
- 2 shots gin
- ice
- Slice of blood orange and sprig of rosemary (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Place sugar cube in a cocktail glass. Top with bitters and rosemary and muddle until sugar is broken down and dissolved as much as possible.
- Squeeze the orange into the glass until all of the juice is released. Be careful not to get seeds in your cocktail.
- Top with gin and stir to combine.
- Add ice and garnish with a blood orange slice and a rosemary sprig
Notes *If using the blood orange bitters and rosemary sugar cubes**, reduce bitters to just a few dashes and rosemary to just a few leaves.
