Juillet on Instagram

The highlight of my month of July was definitely the Bastille Day fireworks. I had the chance to view them from the Trocadero with a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. (It was a prize I won from a contest organized by the City of Paris on their Instagram.) It was a magical and emotional night; needless to say I felt very lucky to be there! July was also a month when I explored old and new favorite art museums. The Musée d’Orsay (free entrance every 1^st Sunday of the month; don’t let the long lines deter you), the Louis Vuitton Foundation (incredible architecture; watch out for concerts with prestigious artists by signing up for their newsletter) and Giverny (surprisingly easy to get to using public transportation from Paris). I will probably post more about Giverny but you can view an old blog post with a recommendation on an excellent restaurant here.

I also discovered a couple of interesting viewpoints with stunning views of Paris. The first was the big wheel at the Tuileries Gardens. The other one was the Saint-Jacques Tower, which literally took my breath away when I got to the top. You can sign up for a 1-hour guided tour (10€) on Des Mots & des Arts.

Mon mois de juillet a sans aucun doute été marqué par les feux d’artifice du 14 juillet. Grâce à un concours organisé par la ville de Paris sur leur compte Instagram, j’ai eu la chance de suivre le spectacle de l’esplanade du Trocadéro avec une vue parfaite sur la Tour Eiffel. Ce fut un spectacle éblouissant et émouvant, que vous pouvez revoir sur Youtube.

Quelques visites de musées aussi en juillet : le Musée d’Orsay (gratuit chaque 1^er dimanche du mois ; ne vous laissez pas décourager par la file de gens qui attendent pour entrer), la Fondation Louis Vuitton (une architecture incroyable et une programmation culturelle à suivre via leur newsletter) et Giverny (très simple pour y aller en transports publics de Paris). J’ai aussi découvert des points de vue intéressants sur Paris : la grande roue du Jardin des Tuileries, et surtout la Tour Saint-Jacques qui offre un panorama incroyable de la ville. Vous pouvez y accéder via une visite guidée d’1 heure (Des Mots & des Arts ; 10€).
