December 6th – Let It Snow!

Aloha, all!

As you may recall, we're living with a lava flow pretty close to where we live. It's the main – only? – topic of conversation with a group of two or more people get together. Today at breakfast, a friend told me about a set of greeting cards that have photos of the lava on the front, with the words, "Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow." Believe me, as much as I dislike living in snow, I'd rather be saying, "Let it snow!"

So snowflakes are the center of today's card. This particular snowflake comes from the Stampin' Up! Photopolymer Stamp Set, Endless Wishes. I love this set with the three delightfully light snowflakes. There are three sizes an I chose the middle one to fit in the 1-1/4" square that's the stamped layer in this layout from my 2010 Card Layout eBook. I'm using this eBook to keep me on track with ideas for new cards using this year's Stampin' Up! products!

As I knew I wanted to use a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP), I chose which DSP I'd use before I chose the cardstock colors for the stamped snowflakes. The DSP is All Is Calm Specialty DSP, and the sheet I chose includes the colors Pear Pizzazz and Lost Lagoon. So off I went to get those cardstock colors from my stash. I stamped the images using Versa Mark and then embossed them with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. I cut Whisper White mats for the stamped squares which does a nice job of setting them off from the DSP in the background. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to complete the effect.

After I layered up all the layers except the card base, I added a bow made with Lost Lagoon 3/8" Silky Taffeta Ribbon. What fun that ribbon is with which to work! After that, I still felt the card needed a little more pizzazz (besides the "pear" variety) so I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of each snowflake. Bingo, done!

Here are the products I featured in this project today. Just click on any of the pictures to learn more about them, and even to order them from my Stampin' Up! store!
