Nursery Project #1: Decluttering & Planning

Nursery Decluttering

Lately I’ve been thinking about the baby’s room. Yes, I’m only 18 weeks, 5 days along but I’m getting so excited – this week we get to find out if it’s a boy or a girl!! And because I knew this day was coming, I wanted to get all the clutter out of the room we are turning into the nursery.

Mainly what was in there was craft supplies, wrapping supplies, and some random junk. It was our extra room that we just threw stuff into when we didn’t know what to do with it. For example, over Christmas the couch ottoman was in there. Here is what it looked like before I started working on it:

The after – look at how much more space the room seems to have!!

I moved all my craft supplies and decorations to the basement, which I organized the week before. In the closet, we just have some games, wrapping supplies, and cards. Not all the decluttering is done. We still have an old sewing machine, huge bean bags, and those games in the closet to weed through. I’ve made good progress though! Next, comes the exciting part!

Nursery Planning

I have my nursery ideas picked out based on if it’s going to be a boy or a girl. As soon as I knew we were pregnant I had the idea of putting in wainscoting in the baby’s room. I started searching blogs for ideas on what color schemes I liked.

I just love the gray walls, white paneling (or wainscoting), and the dark wood against the white. Of course, loving chevron – I would HAVE to get that rug!! I would not keep the woodland theme though – but I love all those colors!

Again, love the gray walls, with the white crib. To make it more girly, I will add in the accent colors pale yellow and pink. Don’t you just LOVE the yellow curtains? And I LOVE the idea of having a circle or oval mirror above the crib!!

I’ve also been watching a fellow blogger put together her nursery and I think I want to follow a similar color scheme for the wall:

So many fun ideas!! Well, you don’t have to wait long. On Friday I’m going to announce whether Baby Pool is a boy or girl when I give my weekly pregnancy update!! What do you think it’s going to be?
