Rosa Loves… A Sky Filled with Pink & White...

Rosa Loves… A Sky Filled with Pink & White Flowers.

After watching the sunrise, Carmen and I stayed around the Tidal Basin for a while. It was a cloudy and windy morning, but we were surrounded by the beautiful cherry blossom trees so that didn’t matter at the end. We walked around a bit when a tree caught our attention, so we stopped for a few minutes in order to admire the cloud of very pink flowers. It was breathtaking. We also spotted another tree that I immediately declared ‘my favorite tree ever’; every branch on that tree was so incredibly packed with flowers and the effect was mesmerizing. I was so in love with it that I lost track of time (and I also lost Carmen, she had run off to take a photo of a duck happily swimming in the Potomac). Upon inspection, Carmen found a small metal tag with the number K263. Some local folks told us that it meant that the tree was about 100 years old. It was honestly so hard for me to let go of this tree, but we had to continue our journey along the Tidal Basin. After walking underneath a sky of pink and white flowers that morning, I thought about how I need to make plans to do it all over again next year.
