De Hoep: Taxidermy & Skulls

Bezoekerscentrum De Hoep is a visitor center at the Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat (North-Holland Dune Reserve). I went on a walk around the area yesterday and came across the visitor center by chance. I stuck around for a while, bought myself a sheep keychain for 3 whole euros, and never got to see the sea at the end of my route. But it was nice to look around the center too.

The visitor center had quite a substantial collection of stuffed animals, all belonging to species that live in the area. Sadly, I did not get to see any live versions on my walk. Not even a squirrel! This always happens to me. I did see a European robin though, but who cares? We’ve got plenty of those (just a joke, please calm yourselves down hardcore robin fans).

I just have to mention, have you noticed my reflection in some of these photos? I had to leave it in there simply because I was wearing an owl beanie (yes I’m that kind of person) and I just happened to be looking at a bunch of dead owls. Magical coincidence much? I think yes, very much so.
