Muizenberg is famous for being “the birthplace of surfing in South Africa”! I stopped by the beach for a few minutes when my brother and I were on a day tour to the Cape of Good Hope. We visited a penguin colony on the same day.
Muizenberg is situated along False Bay, which is known for its population of White Sharks. Muizenberg is home to a shark watch service that signals alerts when sharks are nearby.
Since we only had time for a quick break, we didn’t get time to go into the water or anything, which was a shame. I’ve never surfed in my life, so maybe it wasn’t a good idea anyway. But seriously, it would be nice to learn how to surf one day! South Africa would probably be one of the best locations to do that.
