Puppy Love Stories: Sam & Olive
Meet Sam and Olive! Sometimes the pets we fall in love belong to a friend, family member, or, in Sam and Olive's case, a coworker! Even though Sam's name isn't inscribed on the tag hanging from Olive's collar, Sam still dotes on Olive as if she was her own. Olive's owner, Gabe, is always kind enough to share the puppy love with anyone who wants the company of a fluffy friend! When it comes to Sam and Olive, we know the feeling of adoration is mutual; Olive often finds her way on Sam's lap or curled up in an unoccupied chair nearby, especially when peanut butter is around! How did you and your fluffy friend meet? What made you fall in love with them?
So, I am actually, technically, not her real owner. She's the pup of our IT Manager, Gabe! I just like to steal her all the time at work and pretend she's mine, since I don't have a dog of my own yet.
I first met her when she was a wee little pup, and she was pure black and was kind of sick. Gabe brought her in to work shortly after he rescued her from a shelter, and she had a bad case of kennel cough. I immediately fell in love with her little cute personality and she's been my favorite dog at the office ever since! She's also kind of a rebel, which makes me like her even more.
How did you decide on the name for your dog?
I think Gabe named her Olive cause she was pure black as a puppy, like a little Olive. Sometimes I call her Olivia, as in Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU.
How would you describe your dog in three words?
Cuddly, cautious, the cutest!
What are some things you and your dog enjoy doing together?
Taking cuddle breaks at work, sharing chicken pieces from my lunches and running through the rows in warehouse to get our daily exercise.
Do you have any other pets? If not, do you see yourself adopting again?
Not right now, which is why I steal her from the IT room, where her owner works, all the time!
What are some of the benefits of having your dog by your side at work?
Whenever I need a mental break from the computer, I know I can just go pick her up and put her in my lap and she'll fall asleep. Also, having dogs in the office keeps the atmosphere lighthearted.
Can you share a cute story involving your dog?
Well, I don't have one specific story, but every once in a while, Olive, who is normally quiet and sweet, will see a stranger in the window and go into guard dog mode and start barking at the highest pitch possible. It's happened multiple times when she's been in my lap and I've spilled drinks on myself or had near death heart attacks from her crazy yipping!
