First look: Elle Insider 'luxury new eyeliner'.

A super exciting and little bit of a different review today, one of an unbranded eyeliner that isn't out yet and I don't know the brand of thanks to Elle Insider (an uber cool subscription advantage that you should definitely all be apart of)- talk about being ahead of the game...I was really luckily, randomly selected to review the 'luxury new eyeliner', test it out and give my first impressions- cue a very, very excited Rosie.
THE LOWDOWN: the eyeliner has, according to Elle 'been in development for over five years and it's the first ever lash hugging gel liner pen with a patented AccuFlex tip, specifically designed to make applying gel liner easier'. It certainly is the first of its kind and different to anything else I've seen on the market- gel liner in a pen?! You wind up the bottom (see photos) and the flexible rubbery tip dispenses the product which you then glide along the lash line- genius surely. I'd say think the YSL Touche Éclat but for eyeliner with a rubber tip, hopefully solving the whole 'I know gel is better but liquid is sooo much easier' dilemma.
HOW TO USE: To properly test this out, I went for my everyday style of liner, the classic winged look. I tend to start at the mid point of my lash line and sweep outwards until I reach the outer corner of my lash line. I then do a teeny flick by drawing a single line, just bigger than the tip of the liner, diagonally outwards and then join it to the rest of the line. I then finish by continuing the line to the inner corner of my eye. Being so different, it's definitely something to get used to, my tip is don't be too precise with it as it actually makes life harder. Letting the liner do the work for you gives the best results.
THOUGHTS: So did I like it? I'd say I'm about 90% there. It's certainly innovative, super quick and easy to use though the large nib makes staying super close to the lash line a little tricky despite it's claims to be 'lash hugging'. Other, than that minor issue- it's not far off perfect. The AccuFlex tip makes it easy to sweep across the lash line quickly and effectively. The colour and finish is ideal; blacker than black, completely opaque, matte and oh my goodness, long-lasting. Believe me when I say, it. does. not. budge, one of the key things that makes it so impressive compared to other liners that I've used. The drawback to this however, is perhaps my greatest issue with it as this makes it a bloody nightmare to get off, leaving my eyes a little red and sore *sad face*. I can imagine though with a more heavy-duty makeup remover (I use bioderma) this may not be a problem. All in all its a thumbs up from me and I have a feeling that this liner has the potential to go big.

As far as brand goes, I'm still making my mind up but as it's 'luxury' I'm assuming high-end. The packaging is similar ish to Lancome's existing liners, though it has the originality and innovative quality of something I'd expect from Benefit but then the whole YSL Touche Eclat comparison is playing on my mind- have they decided to try out the concept again with eyeliner? Who knows, but I for one cannot wait to find out...
