It’s Who I Am: a RoadID affiliate!

A typical “melted me” picture from before a recent run.

We all have those items that we seemingly can’t live without and I am no exception when it comes to the item in question. It’s in pretty much every run-related photo I ever post. Sometimes it’s pink, sometimes blue, usually black, but if I’m heading to and from TRX class, hitting the trail or lacing up my running shoes, it is always a part of the action. Clearly, it’s important to me if it’s that prevalent in my life, right? What is it?

My RoadID of course – and I am very proud and excited to announce that I am now a RoadID affiliate!

It’s wonderful to be able to work with a company I believe in, backing a product I literally use daily. My first RoadID was an interactive shoe ID I purchased before my first 5k. I wasn’t very healthy at the time, but didn’t feel like divulging all my information to coworkers who were also running the event. I felt safe knowing my interactive ID would tell EMTs all they needed to know if something went wrong. Thankfully, I’ve always had a RoadID and thus far never needed it. I feel naked if I go running without one of my slim IDs on! You’ll even catch me sleeping in them sometimes – they’re comfortable, unobtrusive and find it essential to my safety as a person out in the world.

Don’t think you’d need a RoadID? These tales tell you all you need to know – and as noted earlier, it’s wonderful to have one but never need it. Sure, runners, cyclists, and triathletes all rock them, but they’re also great for folks who don’t want to wear a full metal medical alert bracelet, kids of all ages, and even your four-legged set. Yes, that’s right: my two pups have their own RoadIDs as well! Juno has a larger sized one on her running harness and Olive will soon receive a smaller sized one for her collar so she jingles less when on the move.

RoadIDs come in a variety of styles and colors, from dog tag styles and classic shoe-top styles to my personal, colorful favorite the slim (pictured below.) Now you can personalize your ID as a fashionable accessory that just so happens to also have an emergency purpose by adding these fun badges. My friend Anna just added this half marathon badge to her newest colorway of RoadID band and I have to admit it’s pretty freaking cute how you can now customize you ID. How cool is that?

Plus, the holidays are coming and they make great gifts. Their shop also has killer visibility gear. I’m a huge fan of the Supernova lights myself – durable, long lasting and most importantly, BRIGHT. The one in the picture above is over five years old. Either Juno pup or I wear it and the battery has been replaced maybe once. It lasts and lasts, is bright and holds fast to whatever you clip it to. Besides, who doesn’t want a stocking stuffed full of these puppies?

All the pretty colors!

Safety is important – but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring!

Do you rock a RoadID? What style would you choose for yourself?
