Our stay of the week – Les Cinq Djellabas, Marrakech

This calm and collected sanctuary first won our affection back in 2012. Three years on, it remains one of our very favourite urban retreats. Forget rocking the kasbah – here in the Palmeraie district, you can find peace (and perfect minimalist styling) away from the mayhem of the city.

Les Cinq Djellabas gives you the best of two worlds. The first being a stay around 20 minutes from the heart of Marrakech, with its charming old Medina and frenetic energy. And the second; an opportunity to sample all of this from your own luxurious suite, set among palm trees and gardens, with the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas mountains visible in the distance.

The digs are in the form of 10 thatched lodges, which have been artfully and ecologically designed by Thierry Isnardon. The style strikes just the right balance between traditional and contemporary, with tadelakt walls, local leather and modern neutrals creating an air of chic simplicity.

These high-ceilinged spaces are positioned near the beautiful outdoor swimming pool – an angular, dark slate affair; next to which is a pristine row of luxury beds and white parasols. And everywhere; cool grass. It’s hard to imagine a more soothing place to sip your mint tea after a morning of intense bartering.

We’re offering a stay at Les Cinq Djellabas from just £104 per night for a Suite, or £124 per night for a Deluxe suite. Both offers include breakfast, plus complimentary airport transfers (minimum four nights) and lunch on one day (minimum six nights).
