dreamer top hack // lace yoke top tutorial
This is my new favorite top! I’ve been wearing it at least once a week since I made it. I just love a top that is easy to wear and makes me feel cute. My favorite tops always tend to have lace, too. The bottom half of this top is made of soft french terry (from Girl Charlee), it’s almost like a sweatshirt knit.
Adding a lace yoke is quick and simple hack using my Dreamer Top pattern. The Dreamer Top is already a SUPER fast sew. It will take you less than an hour, no matter what level you are! Add this little hack may add a few extra minutes but it will be worth it. I thought I’d share this today in case you are looking for a quick weekend sew!
My favorite part of this top is the sleeve, where the lace meets the french terry and the armband. I love the geometric contrast to the lace!
lace yoke top tutorial//
Materials:
-The Dreamer Top Pattern
-French Terry or other knit fabric
-Lace
-1/2″ Bias Tape for binding
-Pencil, Scissors, extra paper and tape
The whole tutorial is in the patternwork. You simply split the pattern where you want to, add 3/8″ seam allowance with some extra paper and then stitch the yoke and lower portion together. Once you’ve done that the rest of the pattern instructions apply normally!
If you are using lace for the yoke:
-Press seam allowance away from the lace. We don’t want it to show through, so press it down and topstitch along knit fabric.
-For the shoulder seam, use a french seam to enclose the raw lace edges. I’ll share a tutorial for this next week!
-Bind the neckline with bias tape to match the lace.
The lace makes it a see-through on the top, so I just wear a capsleeve undershirt when I wear it. I love the look! You can layer a darker shirt underneath to get the lace to pop, too! Or try it with two solid knit fabrics for a colorblock effect! So many possibilities with this fun and simple top!
