Nendo Designs a Chocolate Bar in Tokyo for BbyB

Belgian chocolate company BbyB — established by Antwerp-based Michelin-star chef Bart Desmidt — opened up shop in Tokyo’s Ginza district. Designed by Japanese studio Nendo, the store displays the chocolate in a giant case of sliding transparent drawers with the square packets of chocolate arranged by color in mathematical fashion: five chocolate bars in each box and five boxes combined in each cube.

The space itself is designed as a three-dimensional larger-than-life version of the chocolate packaging, which is also mimicked in the print of the white tile floor. The austere white interior is offset by a dark café at the back of the store where customers can sample their chocolate with coffee. It’s all quite the exercise in interior design, so be sure to check out additional images here.
