{life} so i finally opened an etsy shop

When I was in the third grade, I made beaded necklaces and bracelets with elastic string and sold them on the playground when the teachers weren't looking. Admittedly, I was your textbook goody-goody nerd by definition... but even then, I knew I wanted to do something that was truly mine where people couldn't tell me what I could and couldn't do.

... that beaded jewelry was nothing short of hideous, but I think back fondly to those days all the time. I remember the feeling I had when I would exchange money for something I created. I felt like I was on to something big. Bigger than me, even. I was starting to understand the concept of business.

Fast forward entirely too many years, and I remember how I felt when I went back to school to get my MBA. Same kind of feeling... just a totally different kind of playground. I learned more than I thought I would, which says something considering I overanalyze absolutely everything. Business school? Great investment.

So, here I am today. Older, wiser and still yearning for the days on the playground when I could proudly say, "Hey, I made that! And that person voluntarily bought my stuff and they're glad they did!"

I opened an Etsy shop yesterday -- the nerd studio. You know, because I have so much free time on my hands and stuff. But between my day job as a corporate communications consultant and my time moonlighting as a blogger, I have so many creative things floating in my head, it's time I start harnessing some of it and throwing it out there for you fine folks.

Hopefully you like what you see. I have about ten (give or take 20) more series worth of ideas in mind so be sure to check back often. I'm excited to see what happens. I think third grader Julie would be proud.
