spotted: hotel g.

hi! it’s leslie from spotted sf and i’m thrilled to share this brand new hotel in my beloved san francisco that truly feels like a home away from home. living in this city is definitely pricey and traveling here is not light on the pocket books either. for out-of-towners, accommodations have ranged from very upscale establishments (that are either historic and opulent or overly trendy) to iffy motels and now apartment rentals on airbnb. alas comes hotel g, a boutique option that fits perfectly in the middle and satisfies many travelers’ need for central location, simple modern decoration and affordability.

originally opened in 1908 as the fielding hotel, hotel g now occupies the corner building just off union square in the heart of sf’s shopping district. much of the building’s original features have been preserved and you can still see some of the old decorative tile, beams and flooring mixed in with the newly designed spaces. 153 rooms with great amenities (including nespresso machines) occupy 12 floors there is a mini gym, meeting room and lobby shop that will be stocking a collection of locally made goods for purchase. there are various room types to choose from and the photos i’m featuring here are from a greatest king room on the top floor as well as a few from the lobby. i took plenty more photos of the other rooms and am sharing some of those here. i just love the warm and relaxed styling furnishings they’ve brought into each space. and throughout the hotel you’ll also find a fun mix of artwork in each of the rooms and public areas. hotel g has partnered with creativity explored, an organization dedicated to providing folks with developmental disabilities the opportunity to express themselves and pursue a livelihood through the creation and sale of their art. the hotel doubles as a gallery and you can also preview all the available work on their site.

to those of you planning a visit to san francisco or locals needing a place to house some extra guests, definitely consider hotel g as one of your options.
