Celebrate the Holidays with Family & Friends and Repurpose Tableware

Can you believe that Memorial Day weekend is this upcoming weekend? Oh my goodness! How time flies. It seems like just yesterday we were ushering in the New Year. Now it’s time to shed our winter clothes, throw on a bathing suit and enjoy lazy days by the pool or beach.

With the unofficial start of summer comes many backyard barbecues, camping and just hanging out with family and friends. Food plays a major part in summer time get togethers.

When you are planning to have friends over for a barbecue the last thing you want to think about it doing the dishes. No way! You rather spend your time enjoying your guests, not washing dishes. For this reason many people opt for tableware that you can use and toss out. That is fine except many of these products are made out of ingredients that are not Earth friendly. In addition the remnants of your summer party will live on for many, many, many years in landfills since most of these types of products are not bio-degradable.

If you prefer not to have to wash dishes, and you are conscious about the issues our environment faces, consider using products from a company called Repurpose.

Repurpose was founded by a group of eco-entrepreneurs driven to positively impact the environment by changing everyday behavior. Realizing the devastating effect single-use plastics were having on the environment and the fact that no alternatives existed for the consumer, Repurpose decided to manufacture its own. Repurpose, a line of sustainable tableware that looks out for the health of you, your family, and the planet, was born. Our mission is to reduce the amount of plastics in our environment and offer guilt-free, renewable alternatives. By purchasing from Repurpose, consumers support a woman-owned, sustainable company that is changing the world—one cup, fork and plate at a time.

Repurpose offers a line of green, single-use tableware made exclusively from plants.

Repurpose products are made from plants like corn and sugar, which are annually-renewable resources. And unlike traditional plastic or even paper items, all Repurpose products are 100% compostable in an industrial composter.

All Repurpose products are BPA-free, chlorine-free, petroleum-free and use only soy-based inks and are now available at Safeway, Albertsons, Vons and online at RepurposeCompostables.com.

Repurpose sent me some of their products to test out with my family.

I was expecting flimsy products that could barely carry the weigh of some chips let alone a burger or hot dog. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the products are exceptionally well made. They are some of the best disposable products I have ever used.

I try my best NOT to use disposable products, but there are those times when it’s more convenient to use them instead of using your own dishes, especially if you are entertaining a large crowd or prefer not to risk your good tableware outside.

Repurpose sent me bowls, plates, drinking cups (ones for cold beverages and ones for hot beverages) and eating utensils.

I’m very impressed with the strength and quality of these products. It’s hard to believe they are made from plants. Even the ink they use is made from soy.

These are by far a much better quality than the kind you buy from the local grocery, drug or department store. The utensils don’t snap and break, the plates can hold a lot and not bend and they don’t have any weird “plastic” like smells like other utensils and drinking cups.

I have not tried the hot drinking cups I was sent to review – yet – so I can’t comment on those. But if they are anything like the cups, plates, bowls and eating utensils I am confident I will be very pleased with those as well.

Ideally you should use products that you can reuse, such as your own dishes, cups and utensils. When that is not possible please keep the environment, and your health, in mind and opt for better-for-you products like Repurpose products.

I’m not the only one who is pleased with their products. You can purchase Repupose products on Amazon.com (I was looking into buy more for an upcoming family event) and I see nothing but positive reviews from other consumers for the brand’s products.

Have you ever tried Repurpose products before? Would you consider using these products for your next event?
